| We bought the land for this project from xxxx. We built 40 Bahl
Patio Homes. This
project was built in two phase of 20 house each. Originally we had planned to
build 88 Bahl Patio Homes. The land that the
Bahl Cluster Homes are
built on were part of this tract map.
Have you ever wondered why the entrance to Nimitz School is on Cheyenne
Drive and not Cascade considering Cascade is a through street and Cheyenne
is not? Well before we built these Patio Houses,
Cheyenne Drive was a through street to Sunnyvale Saratoga Road and Cascade
dead ended into an Orchard. The State of California had a law that
said you could not have an elementary school that had through streets on
both sides of the school. The City decided to close Cheyenne Drive
because it was a through street all the way to Hollenbeck. The City
want to stop people cutting through the neighborhoods. So even
though Cheyenne was already in, the street was closed. This is why
the lots on the south side of Castlerock Court are 20' deeper than all the
other lots in this tract.
This leads to another interest story concerning a pool. Because
Cheyenne Drive was a through street, the utility lines run through the
backyards of the above mentioned houses. When the street was closed,
only the paving was taken up. All of the utilities are still in the
ground and are active. Well one of these homeowners, who shall remain
nameless, decided to build a swimming pool in their back yard. The
problem is that they did it without a building permit. When the pool
contractor started to dig the hole for the pool, they hit the water main
running though the backyard. It flooded the backyard and their
house. They had no way to turn off the water but to have the city
come out and do it for them.
These were the 1st Patio House to be built with a 2nd story loft. As
we built the 2nd phase of 20 Patio House we slightly increased the size of
the loft. |
